Culture house De Scharbiellie is the place to be to discover art. A varied programme of exhibitions with different themes is offered annually and for all ages!
By the way, did you know that the name of the building 'Scharbiellie' refers to the local history? Kasteelstraat used to be called ‘Scharbielliedreve’ because the street was paved with the sieved ashes (scharbielje) from the coal stoves.
Wat de zee bewaart - Expo Johan Tahon
In November 1943, the fishing boat N141 ‘De Zee’ disappears in the North Sea after striking a German sea mine. The crew is never found. Among them, the great-grandfather of artist Johan Tahon remains forever beneath the surface, carried by the slow breath of the sea.
What is the 'Cultural house De Scharbiellie'?
Cultural House De Scharbiellie is the ideal location to present art to the general public.
